Press Release: Sophia’s Heart Kicks Off “Drive for Five Campaign” to Help Homeless Families
Nashville, TN – Sophia’s Heart, one of Nashville’s primary transitional housing programs for homeless families, has officially kicked off its “Drive for Five Campaign” in an effort to increase awareness and generate financial support for its programs from the community.
The organization hopes to inspire 1,000 individuals to contribute $5.00 per month to offset operational costs. Funds raised will be used to assist with the following:
- 7 Day Emergency referral and hotel
- After School Program
- Food Distribution Services
- Basic Utility Services
- Office Supplies
- Other daily operational expenses for families served by Sophia’s Heart.
Supporters can make a contribution of just $5.00 per month, or make a one-time gift as their annual donation to Sophia’s Heart.
Executive Director, Clifton Harris, a long-time advocate for the near homeless and homeless families, says, “The ‘Drive for Five Campaign’ is an affordable way for everyone to get involved in saving lives and improving their community. Anyone and everyone can do this. It’s as easy as doing without one fast food meal or one Caramel Frappuccino per month and putting that money toward the needs of another family. It’s the American way. It’s what we do for one another in this country,” says Harris.
Officials report that on any given night there are approximately 3,000 individuals experiencing homelessness in the Nashville area.
