Former American Idol Finalist and Chart-topping Singer/Songwriter Host Fundraising Gala for Homeless Families During National Homeless Youth Awareness Month
Nashville, TN – It was a night of star studded entertainment as six-time Grammy Award winning artist, Amy Grant, best-selling inspirational novelist, Karen Kingsbury, and American Idol Alum, Danny Gokey, took the stage at the Musicians Hall of Fame Saturday, November 15th to raise funds for homeless families in the area.

Each brought their own unique spice to a packed room of over 300 donors, supporters, volunteers, and residents, all dressed in their best, ready to celebrate an evening of achievements and fundraising for Sophia’s Heart, a nonprofit transitional housing facility for families in need of housing and restoration.

The night’s events began with a cocktail hour sponsored by Drink Music City. VIP guest were given the red carpet treatment as they lined up for a photo opportunity with entertainer and Organization Founder, Danny Gokey. The cocktail hour included tours of the Musician’s Hall of Fame museum, photo-booth for guests, and a silent auction with dozens of items from an autographed Titans helmet to a framed lyric sheet signed by Amy Grant herself.

As guest dined on filet mignon, baked chicken, potatoes, vegetables, salad, and dessert all donated by Pedestal Foods, and TBHC, singer/songwriter Amy Grant entertained the crowd with several heart felt performances from her musical repertoire.

Author Karen Kingsbury followed with an inspirational message about perseverance, and later former resident, Danielle Lewis, shared her testimony of how Sophia’s Heart breathed new life into the lives of her and her family during their time of need.

Danny Gokey rocked the house with his new #1 hit song, “Hope In Front Of Me” firing the crowd up for Board Member, Britt Hunt, who led a live auction consisting of a trip to Aspen, a Nascar experience, and a 48 x 48 canvas painting made in part by the children at Sophia’s Heart.

Several supporters were recognized during the evening: Britt Hunt, of The Britt Hunt Company and Pedestal Foods, received the Board Member of the Year Award, while Hiller Plumbing received the Corporate Donor of the Year Honor. Mandy Miller received the Volunteer of the Year Award, and The Oasis Life Group was named Volunteer Group of the Year.

Each guest went home with a brag bag of memorabilia and hopefully a new passion for “Restoring Hope” to children and families in need.

Proceeds from the event will benefit families in Nashville experiencing homelessness.
