Thank you Full Life Church, Franklin for bringing so many helping hands to help turn Sophia’s Heart into a winter wonderland for the Holidays! Nearly 40 volunteers came by and helped move mountains of donated furniture, and decked the halls with Christmas cheer! Full Life Church volunteers also did a group activity with our families. The children and parents enjoyed making their very own gingerbread houses. The Family Night activity filled the room with the warm smell of ginger and plenty of laughter and smiles from parents and children.
The Comfort of Home
Sophia’s Heart residents now have a comfortable leather sectional couch to enjoy in the Family room thanks to the generous Christmas contribution from one of our donors. The Family room is an area where residents can watch television together and participate in group activities with staff, volunteers and other residents. A Yamaha piano was also donated. It will be used in the music and arts program.
Deck the Halls
This year SH families, staff and volunteers “Decked the Halls” with holiday cheer by decorating their doors. The children chose the winner of the staff and volunteer door decorations, while the staff walked the halls to select the winning family door. Prizes for the winners were given out at the Christmas Party.
Baskets Full of Joy
A big “Thank You” goes out to Amanda McCreery and her team at Brookdale Home Health for their generous donation of Christmas care baskets for each of our families. The baskets were filled with toiletry items, laundry detergent, hats, gloves and toys for the children!
Santa’s helpers were busy sorting through hundreds of gift donations for residents at Sophia’s Heart. Live-in volunteer, Hannah Breaux, along with other staff members helped to wrap each present with care preparing the bags of gifts which were delivered to each family on Christmas day.
A Merry Music City Christmas
Several Sophia’s Heart residents and staff attended Cross Point Church’s community-wide “A Merry Music City Christmas” event. Organizational Founder and President, Danny Gokey, performed while SH families and staff set-up a volunteer booth that resulted in our largest volunteer sign-up to date! Thanks residents and staff for helping to end the year on such a high note.
